Memorial Cup Trophy Tours Announced
City of Windsor Residents can look forward to seeing the Memorial Cup, right in their own back yard.
Today, Mayor Drew Dilkens announced the locations of a 10 Wards in 10 Days tour that will see the Memorial Cup travel to each ward in the city so that residents can experience junior hockey’s most coveted prize up close, and close to home!
“We are excited to offer this unique opportunity to our residents”, said Mayor Dilkens. “We understand hosting events such as the Mastercard Memorial Cup will leave a legacy within our community. Working with the CHL and the Spitfires to provide this opportunity in each of our wards makes it even easier to get out and experience this event firsthand”.
Each location will feature fan giveaways, opportunities to enter contests and the chance to take photos with the trophy. Information about the tournament and its history will also be available at each ward tour stop.
TROPHY ALSO TOURING ESSEX COUNTY
The Memorial Cup will also be going on tour around Essex County with plenty of opportunities for residents to snap a photo with the Cup! It will be appearing at a variety of community events throughout the region including sporting events like a volleyball tournament featuring the Memorial Cup Community Team, a Windsor Express game and an Amherstburg Admirals game and local landmarks like Jack Miner’s Bird Sanctuary and Point Pelee National Park.
“As the official Welcoming Partner of the Mastercard Memorial Cup, we are making a concerted effort to share the excitement of this opportunity to host an event of this magnitude”, said Kris Racine, Director of Marketing & Special Events of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island. “We are home to some of the most passionate fans in the Canadian Hockey League and this tour will bring the iconic Memorial Cup up close and personal to as many people as possible”.
