#MMC100 Trophy Tour Stop 16: Bathurst, New Brunswick
The Canadian Hockey League’s 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup celebrations continued this past week in Bathurst, the 16th stop on a season long tour visiting 17 CHL communities in eight different provinces.
The Chaleur Region is home to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Acadie-Bathurst Titan and during the second weekend of March welcomed the Memorial Cup with open arms. The prestigious trophy toured the community and was on hand for a Maritimes Division clash on Sportsnet’s Saturday Showcase between a pair of teams who hope to reign supreme in May as the host Titan edged the visiting Halifax Mooseheads before a nationwide audience.
Prior to puck drop the Memorial Cup took in the beauty of the Atlantic coast, spent time with City of Bathurst staff, police and fire departments, surprised hockey teams young and old with the Peewee Titan and Geritol Crew, took a joy ride via snowmobile, and visited Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18.
